Alternator Bracket???

Alternator Bracket??? K guys i just put a new alternator in and got the two big bolts in. My old altnerator bracket bolt(small one at the back of the alternator) didnt want to go back in, so i went and got a new bolt. now that one wont go back in!!!! Yes the thread count on the new bolt is the same, but no matter how much i twist and shove i cant get the new one in there. Any thoughts?
