Getting an Exhaust system??
In a couple of days i want to purchase an exhaust system. I was shopping around in a WS6 store and thinking about Hooker Exhaust system?? (Most important thing is Will i pass smog by installing it?) Is this set up any good?
Is there something else that offers more "bang for the buck" in performance and sound?
Thanks

u will pass smog with any cat back as long as you don't get rid of your catalytic converters or change the manifolds to long tubes, you should be ok. Long tubes can be made to pass emissions, but you will fail the visual in California, unless you can find a shop to overlook it...

also, hooker is a good system and flows pretty well. It won't be overbearingly loud, but it will be deeper and sound better than stock. If you eventually go with longtubes and an ORY or catted y, it will only sound even better. A lot of people recommend it here because its a good performance gain and its not loud enough to draw attention from the law.

Magnaflow +1 (16723)
for emissions only, the catback is fine,it does not touch catalysts in the front ,
must admit just bought and installed one myself ,fits like a glove on the Camaro without additional hardware.Which for me is important because could not even get a 3,0 inch exhaust clamp so easy here before the internet.
The Magnaflow is more expensive than the Hooker but stainless steel.Would use a cutout in the future as well.
BTW for the mag the sound at idle is silent to normal, cruising sound is quit/dark until 2000 rpm then it about explodes noise-wise.So fine for the cops and MOT but also fine for a nice blast.
good luck choosing!

I just put a Magnaflow on the Formula this past weekend, as was already stated, it fits the car like a glove, and I am very happy with it thus far. It is very tame at idle and low RPM, but at WOT it raises sufficient hell for anyone around me to know it isn't a V6 Firebird.
