Do you have to respect the "IN" and "OUT" of a solenoid, or can they be inverted?

My question is: can the nitrous from the bottle enter the nitrous solenoid where it says "OUT" and exit where it says "IN"? Or do you have to respect the order? I have a HSW kit.

Well I have a braided hose that's way too long and ideally I would have liked to turn the solenoid around on its bracket, but my strut tower brace is in the way. No big deal, I'll just loop the braided hose. Thanks for the replies guys

Well lets back up a minute...
Which solenoid do you have from HSW? Is it the small one with side in and side out? Or is it the bigger one with side in, bottom out and a purge port?
If it is a side in and side out just loosen the nut on top of the can and turn the base around to the posistion you want.
If its a side in bottom exit and you are wanting to feed in the bottom and exit the side you can not do that..
Hope this helps.
