Speed density tune with nitrous??
Hey guys I have a forged ls1 with ported 243 heads and a ms3 cam, I will be spraying a 300 shot at the car sometime this year. I need to get my car retuned and I was wondering if I should do a speed density tune. Would it help for nitrous? What would be the benefits of going with a speed density tune? Thanks guys!

No power difference in speed density or a MAF tune....
2 different ways to get to the same end result.
a MAF is better at Day to Day compensation and will be more consistent at WOT
but SD has benefits too...it tends to have a crisper throttle response as you are telling it the fuel instead of the pcm looking at airflow and then calculating how much fuel it needs
unless you use a HP Tuners custom OS, you will be using the secondary VE table without the MAF(on 98-00 cars) and you will be using the low octane spark table without the MAF(all cars)
so without a Custom OS, staying with the MAF has benefits over SD.
wet shot or dry shot really makes no difference on either...

ok cool. i have to get my car retuned so i think going to go speed density. ive heard that the car will run a little better and have better driveablity. and plus i want to get rid of my restrictive maf. a stock pcm can handle a SD tune just fine right?

the MAF is usually not a restriction unless you still have a stock one with a bigger TB
once you upgrade the TB you should upgrade your MAF to match
they make 100mm MAF's and 104mm Lid's
the car will run the same in SD or using a MAF... its all about how good yoru tuner is...
driveability will be identical either way if tuned properly.
and yes...the stock pcm can handle a good and proper SD tune
