Default How much NOS could a forged 408 hold? What is the weakest link?

Assume a 4.030 iron block, 4340 forged 4" crank, forged rods, forged pistons, head and main studs, o-ringed heads, etc, basically a full on race motor. Any reason why it wouldn't hold a 300-400 shot? We are thinking about a motor like this with a progressively controlled 300-400 DP shot on a drag radial. (Maybe 25% off the line, to 100% in 1.5-2 seconds) What do you think? Doable? If not, why? What is the weakest link in your opinion?

I'd think fuel system followed by driveshaft followed by rear end. even Mosers break, especially when we're talking a 300-400 shot and stickies. i would think with quality forged internals and hardcore rod bolts it would last awhile. Hopefully, anyways.

That's a lot of nitrous for a motor that's only 400 CI. Remember, you can only get so much air/fuel through that motor at one time. Anything more than that results in unnecessary wear-and-tear.

If you plan on using a progressive controller, plan on spending A LOT of time getting your settings right, especially if you're wanting to run a Drag Radial. If you've got the patience for it though, you could build quite the monster.

I would say your weakest link is probably going to be your headgasket. Once you start spraying that much you're going to have a hard time keeping a headgasket in one piece. A lot of that depends on the tune. Be sure to get a very safe tune (Plenty of octane and little timing) and you should be ready to rock-n-roll.
