Thumbs up Started TNT install

I started installing the TNT F1 kit tonight. I like how tight the Power Ring fits. That's a plus. My ring is silver not purple..lol..Oh well...no big deal. I wish the fuel supply line coming from the fuel rail was alittle longer. I had to run it around the front of the TB then over it. The line wasn't long enough to run it under the TB. But the rest of the kit looks straight forward. I just need a SLP bellow so i can trim it down to get everything to fit. Tomorrow I'll run the nitrous line and mount the bottle and maybe install the purge. I'm going to do all the wiring in a small black box that i can get from work and make a TNT glossy label using my color printer. SHould turn out cool. But i'm gonna see if i can figure a different way to run the fuel feed line. I'm trying to keep it away from moving parts especially the throttle linkage. So far i really like the ease of the install. I'm sure i'll be cursing when i do the inline pump

i ran my fuel line under the throttle body, it took a little thinking (since the line isnt very long, but it is doable.

I'm having all kinds of issues getting the intake mounted to the POwer Ring.
I tried cutting my Direct Flow lid, then i was told the SLP lid fits better, but it still doesn't fit. So i called TNT and they said to use the stock bellows? That was the first thing i tried and that wasn't even close to fitting. So i bought a SLP bellow, still won;t fit. I have the Power ring back all as far as it will go. And no matter what i try my air lid is atleast 1 inch away from fitting over the filter. I've see pics of cars, but they all look like Camaro's not WS6's that have a much taller lower air box. I can use some help. I need to take some digital pics for Sam at TNT so he can help me. I'm not too happy how the intake system and power ring fit , but TNT's customer service is very helpfull, especially Sam.

While the power ring is a nice piece it's too bulky. When I had the ring I had to cut about an inch off my lid and get a fernco and trim it up. It all fit nice but it was very tight. A buddy had a WS6 and he actually cut his maf ends at an angle to get them to clear. I'm hoping to get another tnt kit and I will just thread the nozzles into the bellow like an NX kit.

It's funny you say that cause i bought a new SLP bellow and air lid and i just got back from taking it for a ride. Now maybe its the weather tonight but after installing the SLP parts my never felt as strong. I ran a best of 11.79@ 115.08 mph but the car felt faster than that tonight. But this Power Ring has been causing me nothing but headaches!!! I waitng awhile to order this kit now i wish i just went with the NOS Dry kit. But I was thinking of installing the nozzles in the SLP bellows? Is that safe? Cause after tonight i hate to pull the SLP parts off.

P.S. If i have too much more trouble i'll sell ya my kit. It's only 4 days old.

what are you having trouble with? installing the pwer ring fully on the tb or attaching the lid/maf/bellows with the ring on?

No i got the ring on the TB with no problem. It's trying to get the bellow, MAF, and air lid to fit is what i'm having trouble with.

i had problems the first time i did it also and i ended up cutting alot of the lid to move the MAF back about an inch. i think this is the only way. then it went on a little tight but i got it. dont give up that kit, once it is installed it is a nice peace.

i cut about 3/4 of an inch off of the lid, then went to home depot and got a fernco. i assembled the lid/maf withOUT the bellows and measured the size that the fernco needed to be, then i cut it using those measurements and it all worked out great.

I got Sam on the phone trying to hell me with this. It's a tight fit, but Sam at TNT is
very helpfull and has great customer service. I'm dying to get this thing to work. But I can't see how there's enough room for it to work.

its really not that difficult. all you need to do is compensate for the room the ring takes up. all i had to do back in the day when i had that kit was trim off some of my whisper lid to move the maf and bellows back and everything went together just fine.

not sure why you are having such a hard time?

Well i trimmed alot off my direct flow lid and it still didn't fit. Dave from TNT said that sometimes the casting on the TB's are alittle longer so he's going to modify my power ring to compensate. With my lid trimmed the MAF was laess than 1/4" from hitting the power ring. No way is there a bellow goin to fit that tight space. Plus Dave did admit that the intake track fits better on Camaro's than WS6's cause of the tall air lid. Cause you have a Camaro , i don't.

I talked with TNT late yesterday and they said they run into some cars that have a bit more trouble getting the bellow and MAF to fit. But they told me to ship the power ring back and they will get me up and running. Between the help from LS1Speed, Inc and TNT these guys are very helpfull.

BlackNiteWS6,

I have a whisper lid that has already been cut down that I'm not using. It came with the kit when I picked it up from another forum member. Its just collecting dust, so you can have it if you want to give it a shot.

Also, I did the box thing(radio shack project box), both front and rear... really cleans up the wiring.

Later,

Mike

Mike,
I appreciate the offer for the Whisper lid. Right now TNT has my Power Ring and they are removing about 1/4" from the front of the ring so the bellow has more room. I also opened up the 4 holes on my lower air box and pulled it forward and that gave me more room. I'm hoping with that plus what TNT is doing to the ring it should fit, but I'll PM you. Man i see in your post you have a Thunder cam I really thinking about popping in a TR224 114lsa with my 150hp TNT shot. I got the 255lph inline going in and TNT said i'll be fine since i'm also using TR6's gapped at .038 Phoenix is where i bought my WS6.
he owner Joe is a great guy and gave me a good deal on my car. He would love to see how my car drives now..lol. He sold my traded in '99 SS in 1 day. I know me...Thunder will be getting a call soon

Well i'm getting my Power Ring back from TNT today. It should fit perfect now. Now get this....when i called TNT to find out the status of my ring not only did they modify it they also upgraded it to the F2 ring which uses a 3rd nozzle!!!! I NEVER seen customer service like these guys before. They are so concerned with me being satisfied that they will do anything to make the customer happy. I can't wait to get my kit on and try it out. TNT is great to deal with. I wish other companies were like these guys. I think after the 383 stroker is built, SMC shipped by block out 2 days ago , that i'm going to run the new motor using the F2 setup and run about 250hp shot!!! See how it does...I might not want the blower on after that..lol.

Almost done with the install!! Just waiting for a TSP lid and a single rib bellow i saw on Ebay. I got the switches installed and the purge valve and the niods are mounted to the intake. Man, this looks like a serious *** kit!!! With the dual nozzles and those huge niods!!! I know i'm gonna crap my pants when i hit it for the first time..lol. I'm got a program ready to flash in the PCM that will kill alttle timing just to be safe. Stay tuned. The guys at TNT (Dave, Sam and JJ) have been a big help with my install!!! These guys offer great advice and they were willing to install a kit on a WS6 and take pics and email them to me so i could use them as a guide!! How many other companies would do that?
