300 shot on 408??

300 shot on 408?? Ok Im dynoing Saturday and want to spray a 300 shot on the dyno. I have a stand alone fuel system so I wont run out of fuel. I am using a TNT Power Ring but only using 1 nozzle. David at TNT said that one nozzle will flow that much. What I have a question about is the car isnt tuned for that big of a shot. Im spraying a 200 shot now and having no issues at all but will a 300 shot be an issue?

Yes, helluva amount of flow for one to atomize very well, but then again, maybe not. Pull a lil timing, ~4* and regap plugs, or swap to step colder depending on your current plugs. Good luck and post up how she does.

4* for a 300 shot? That seems a little low. I have a completely different engine set-up so its not apples to apples, but I pull 10* for my 300 shot.

Thanks for the replies so far. I dont know what kind of rings are in the motor, it was buitl by someone and I didnt ask him what he used but he knew I was going to be spraying the house down with it.
Is there going to be a problem spraying a 300 shot through a single nozzle? David at TNT said it would flow that. Also are there going to be any issues with the intake? I might not do if it is kind of iffy to be ok.
The jets I would be using would be 89 nitrous and 71 fuel. I have a stand alone fuel system running 10 psi in which Im running 116 octane fuel through. Thats why the fuel jet is so big.

Yes, thankx stang killer, I did mean pull 4* from the current tune. If the engine is built, how much nitruos was it built for? Using standard "off the shelf" pistons, rings & rods, 300 is about max you'll want to venture to. I would approach this in 200, then 250 and if its all good, then 300. My shortblock was built for daily doses of 200shots, but I will be blasting 300 through the intake and DUAL Shark Nozzles and the HPE Ring. Similar but I really prefer the atomization of a single nozzle going no more then 200shots. I know the neighbor might get away with it, but will you?

The motor has been taking the 200 shot with no problems what so ever. Everything runs fine before during and after spraying it. The engine builder told me that the motor should have no issues taking a 400 shot but he wasnt sure about anything past that.

A 300 shot seems huge when you're talking single nozzle, although I've heard of 250 with just one. Also, if you up the HP in stages you could check all the plugs and make sure they are reading the same just to make sure you're getting equal distribution.
I'd ask for a build sheet so I knew exactly what was in the motor.

regular moly rings will easily hold a 250shot..anything more and you want to use nitrous rings..like hell fire rings. I'd find out what you're running beforehand.

I've been running a 300 shot on my forged 408 for a long time. The only thing you need to watch are the pistons and valves. Your pistons may not be rated to make that kind of power and the valves may mushroom from the pressure. What do you make on motor?

The fuel for that kind of shot will not atimize in the intake very good. I leaned out multiple cylinders with the NX 300 SHO nozzle. The composite intake is not a good idea for that much bottle to go through it. I tuliped multiple valves from the heat and cylinder pressure. Put a direct port or something on it.
