Default TR55 to TR6 plug question!!

I currently have TR55's and will be adding a 150hp shot very soon. I plan on switching my plugs from the TR55's to the TR6's.

My question is will they TR6's make my N/A runs slower due to the colder plugs, or will it not matter that much?

My car is running very strong right now on motor alone and 150hp shot should put me deep into the mid 10's, but I was just concerned how bad the TR6's will affect my N/A runs........

Thanks

HA HA...hadnt noticed on the post thing...thank you very much!!

i could be wrong cause im no expert and im sure the nitrous gods will chime in but i dont think it effects anything at all, atleast not enough to notice a differance...its more of an insurance thing for N2O to insure the plug will hold up under extreme temperatures.

from just a change of plugs i didnt lose any hp on the dyno N/A and A/F stayed the same.

You will not see a big enough difference to matter.

Thanks for all the replies. I just wanted to be sure. Well why do people recommend the TR55's over the TR6's for N/A motors then? If there isn't a noticable difference it shouldn't matter, right?

Again, thanks for the replies!

with nitrous you need a colder spark plug such as the NGK TR6 gapped at .035. i lost 5rwhp on the motor alone when i switched from the TR55 to the TR6 as verified by a dynojet. but when using a 150 shot of nitrous this plug swap is a requirement in order to keep your motor from burning down. the more built up your motor is and or the more nitrous your run the more crucial this becomes. don't forget to retard your timing at least 3 degrees when spraying a 150 shot and to use 100 octane unleaded race gas too.

A loss of 5rwhp can be from weather, temp, placement of tires on the rollers...basically its a wash.
I have ran TR-6's almost exclusively since I got my car, other than a couple times I had to run BP7's for larger shots. The TR-6 "may" not net the same RWHP as a setup on the edge with TR-55's, but I dont see it. The colder plug will hurt idle more than anything, but again, you wont notice it. Besides, its not smart to run a car on the edge, unless your meaning to for a certain reason If your on a stock tune, and stock fuel pump, I'd try to monitor the AFR and or Fuel Pressure. I wouldnt necessarily use a race gas mix, but it definately wont be risky at all, its more insurance, and thats usually a good thing. Good luck,

Charlie

I agree with the above about the 5rwhp. That is just too little of a diff on diff days to know for sure. I run the TR6s all the time, and I rarely spray. I have ran less than 3 bottles with two diff cars in almost two years, so they do me just fine or I would go back to the TR55s. Good luck man!

The HP loss is not even worth thinking about cause its so small. The idle MAY get slightly different. I run my TR6's all the time and im not spraying everyday. You really have no choice whether or not to change to colder plugs with nitrous, well you do have a choice if you are OK with destroying the engine.

Not always destroying an engine.... see this is what wrong plugs (and tune) can do for your plugs (luckily not engine):

I am considering using a colder plug next time I go for the 250+ shot Maybe the BP7... or TR-8. The gap was a little large for TR-6 use in that shot size as well .038", spark was at/around 22*, AFR really got me at a lean 12.8:1 IIRC, and of course I had a splash of 103unleaded race gas mixed with 92 pump. All told, Oooops! Next time it will be different for sure.
