Default Whats needed to fill your own bottle w/o a pump?

Do I just need to freeze my bottle over night, and get a line that will go between the 2 bottles? Anything else I'm missing? Is there a technique? I know getting a fill station is 100 times better, but I don't have $600 to spend .

+1 i think thats what the filler here does... you have to freeze the bottle and they only put what the bottle will take... once told me i already had some in the bottle cause only 8lbs of nitrous would go in when my 10lb bottle was empty. i think its cause the tanks equalized pressure so no more push from the main bottle into mine. a pump would allow you to get the most fills per tank and may pay for itself over time i guess.

as long as the fill bottle is warm and a lot of pressure and the bottle beging filled is frozen... i bet you could get quite a bit in..

All you need is a bottle nut for the mother bottle, a 2 foot piece of 4an line, and possibly a 4an to 6 an adapter if your filling a bottle with a 6an bottle nut.

Also ive done bottle fills in a hour to an hour and a half from the time i placed the bottle in the freezer.

You need to put a N20 filter in the short line too. The big tanks are always full of crap. You would be amazed how much rust and paint chips and just plain crap I pull out of the filter on my refill station.

otherwise, ->

WOW thanks for the tip. I have not been filtering
I have had no problem getting my bottles full. In fact i put 16 to 17# in my 15# bottles and have to shut the valve to stop it.

I think i'll be alright w/o the filter, because the nitrous I'm using is already pre-filtered medical grade nitrous. So all I need to do is:

1. freeze my bottle
2. connect a 4an line b/w the two bottles
3. open them up and let it fill

Sounds easy enough . Did I miss anything? Do I have to flip my 10lb bottle upside down while filling?

It dosent matter if its "prefiltered' There is always crap in the tanks. If you want to gamble, then go ahead, but I certainly wouldn't risk a $15K car over a $40 filter, but thats just me.

Yeah, forgot about a scale, thanks! And with putting the mother bottle upside down, thats what i'll have to do, because I know that those bottles don't have a siphon tube for sure. I guess i'll build a stand to hold it upside down. I think I have everything I'll need now. Thanks for the help .

I use airgas,110.00 per year to rent bottle and 90-95 to fill( do not rember 56-60 # of juise) mount the mother upside down. the receiver rite side up, freeze the receiver over nite, then becareful it is easy to over fill, I can put 11-13 # in a 10#'r in 5-10 minutes, I do not like to over fill, so I like to set bottle on dig scales while filling, dig scales on ebay for 10.00 plus 10-12 for shipping

just my .02' Johnny

i have a dig scale. and supposedly these bottles come with a siphon tube. $178.53 to fill the 100.

can you get virtually all of the nitrous out of the mother bottle without a pump? i don't mind losing 5lb but don't want to lose 10-20lbs.

if i didn't chill the 10lb bottle, can i get at least 8-9lbs out until the last bit of the mother bottle?

.

Another vote for filter is a must. I believe you also really need to freeze bottle, will fill much more efficiently. I was told you can't buy medical N2O around here without being registered.

I only get about 5-6 # in about 1 hour unless I freeze the bottle after freeze can fill 10 # + in 5-10 minutes, and yes use a filter
good luck, Johnny
