I blew my tranny and rear with a 150 shot at around 11000 miles, with full bolt ons.I sprayed out of the hole and through the shifts all the time and generally beat it like a red-headed stepchild. That being said I would go with a 150 shot if you have the stock f/pump,if you have a bigger fuel pump go with a 200 shot. There are quite a few people running 200 shots + a cam on the stock shortblock. The rear and trans will probably break b4 the motor,if you want them to last longer don't spray until midway through 1st gear. But it feels so good spraying out of the hole

Out the hole with any type of decent power with stock drivetrain is always a recipe to order replacement parts.

i've seen an a4 guy use a 150,et street combo for most of a year but the rear finally gave out.i think he actually had 3.23 but i'm sure the 2:73 will not last alot longer.some people have went much longer and some not as fortunate.it made me look bad with him running 7.20s in the 1/8 with a lid and the nitrous and me only mustering 7.60s with a lid and a 150 but with an m6.

If the tranny is a low mile non abused unit it will probrably last awhile not spraying through the shifts. 2.73 rears can take a good amount of abuse too. My stock 4l60 was seeing about a 225 shot last season and a 125-150 shot for 3 seasons before that, havn't run it this season but it was still going at the end of last year. Also running a 2.73 10 bolt but it has axles and a girdle.

I would say, give it a 150 shot.

I sprayed a 150 shot with my stock drivetrain and never had any problems. That was out of the hole and not spraying through the shifts. But like has already been stated, 150 shot out of the hole and a dead hook equals a good chance for a broken 10 bolt. But like I said, I never had any problems.

Look at what "GM Muscle" has done with his stock stuff ........... enough said

GM Muscle I give you much respect for your setup!!

I am on the quest for 10's on the 10 (10 bolt that is) with my small 224/224 cam only M6, 17" 275/40 DR's + some spray............ it will be done and the 10 bolt will live for many passes

Why do you guys go by "season"? I go by # of runs the parts hold together, more accurate.
Opposed to GM Muscle, my stock trans (and Drew778's) lasted well over 600 passes (single season), of which 50% were on juice, thru the shifts, some with radials, DR's, ET Streets and Drags. Of the 300+/- runs on bottle, at least half were at 150-175. All were spraying out of the hole as well and on a 1/4mi track, not 1/8th.

I ended up swapping to a Cmotorsport L2 trans, and it crapped out with less than 200passes on it. Sometime after the stock trans went out, we found out I had sheered teeth off the spider gears, was still running it at the time.

Anyway, this topic has been beat to death by nearly every 7th new user, there is a lot of info in the forum, some conflicting, but generally all you need to know is in here.

My guess, spray 300 shot progressively controlled or in stages. Key to keeping it alive is maintaing a safe level of torque. If you hit all at once, the torque spike will kill it all or some.

I wish gm would of just put in a 12bolt on the factory model, it would of made things so much easier.
