Default Anyone around here live in western Idaho?

I live in Boise Idaho and i was just wondering if anyone else on here lives close by. I know a couple people that are driving F bodys and GTO's but just looking to meet some new people as well.

I'm in Mountain Home, stationed at MHAFB. The wife and I make it over to Boise a couple times a month, usually in the G8 though.

Nice vette Speed Density... Is your vette stock or have you had work done to it? If so who did you have do your tuning? Im doing a cam swap on my GOAT pretty soon and i was needing to get it tuned somewhere in town.

I drove out to a shop in Idaho Falls, they did a good job and the price was reasonable. For my higher end stuff I fly my tuner up from TX though.

Ive been talking with a guy here in town that has a good rep and he seems to be cool so far. His name is Matt, at Performance Solutions. Its down on state street. I think im going to have him do my tuning. He uses HP Tuners and has an in house dyno also.

Shadyst how do you like the EFI live? I was looking into that or doing HP tuner but i figured i would let someone with experience do the tuning. After all the car is my DD. Im going to be running my car at Firebird this coming spring. By then i will have my full exhaust done with Pacesetter LT's. My 228 cam with ported 241 heads and tuned of course. And i havent decided if im going to buy a FAST intake or stick with the LS6.

I would stay away from that shop, its overpriced, they do **** work and Matt could'nt tune his way out of a cardboard box.

If you don't want to drive anywhere I would check out resto rods down in eagle, guy's name is Brent Rule and he has a dynojet.

I like Efi it goes more in depth with the tuning. And once youve done some reserch theres so much you can do with it. Plus the people on the Efi live forums are very helpful when in a pinch. My car ran with my bolt ons no tune 13.70s, then after I tuned it myself now it runs 12.80s, but no I have to put a roll bar in it if I want to run faster then 13.50s since its a convert. Hate that new rule!

Yeah that rule blows. So stay away from Performence Solutions huh? I have actually talked to Brent at Resto Rods a little already. He uses the Diablosprt Tuner to do his tuning and i was under the impression that there wasnt enough tuning capabilitys with those to beable to tune a cam.

Shadyst how familiar with the EFI Live are you? Also how much did you pay for it?

I wasted a **** ton of time and money with Perfomance solutions for parts/labour back when they didnt have a dyno and it sucked ***. His OBD+ stuff knowledge is not there, he is an old school SBC kinda guy.

Drive to idaho falls, your car will get tuned for a cheap and you'll be happy.

They can turn wrenches there, ask to talk to Jeremy he is the owner/tuner. I drove my vette out there, albiet it was not a radical setup but longtubes and intake is enough untuned for me to drive out there and have them work on it.

Tony.

I will see what he wants to charge me for doing a cam swap. I would really like to get my own tuner and do it myself like with HP tuners or something. The EFI tuning looks really nice but a grand for it? I couldnt justify that one to my wife. HP tuners i could get for $400. Ive never done any tuning on a EFI car though so im i have no idea what im doing in that field. Mechanically im fine but tuning, im a virgin.

Tuning takes time, its not something you learn overnight. You could probably get away with tuning a stock(ish) car yourself as a learner but your margin for mistakes gets smaller and smaller when you start making more power.

There is a reason why there are a handful of serious tuners in the country, its not easy.

I was thinking the same thing. I really dont know if i would trust myself tuning it after a cam install. Just to many things i could mess up.
