Was making some progress getting the gears installed this past weekend and then ran into a snag with the damn cross pin hitting the gear when I went to install the axles. This a brand new Yukon Duragrip diff... The solution apparently is to grind off the corner of the gear... but I think I might have a better solution. I'll know more tonight when I can take a closer look at it.

Here's the problem child....

Yeah I've made some progress on it.

The gears/limited slip diff are installed.

I got the eFans installed. No more loud fan clutch when I take off from a stop and I can actually hear my exhaust note now.

Got these fans locally from a low mileage Tahoe.

Nelson Performance eFan harness for 99-02 trucks.

All installed,,,, so much more room now!

After realizing how much more room there was between the throttle body and new fan shroud it got me thinking. Then I started fabbing up a custom DIY cold air intake from some extra 4" bends and 4" K&N filter I had leftover from the Z28.

I soon realized I didn't quite have enough bends to complete it. So, ordering up another 45 degree bend. Once it's finished I'll finish up a cover to isolate the filter down in the hole.

The trans is built and ready to go. This transmission started life in a C5 Corvette and I converted it to a hybrid. It's basically got the newer/better syncros design from the Corvette/GTO with the Fbody case and a GTO main shaft.

Parts all cleaned and ready for final assembly, just waiting for the steel 3/4 gear to show up.

Checking the bearing end play for the main shaft.

Checking the counter shaft bearing end play.

Checking the counter shaft extension bearing end play.

I was going to use a stock master cylinder from a NBS Silverado, but decided to go with the same master cylinder that Tick Performance uses in their masters. So, now I'm modifying the stock clutch pedal to accept the Tilton master cylinder, and then make a custom hydraulic line for it. Decided that I will more than likely do the trans swap first, then install the 6.0 in the spring time. That way I can work out any issues with the trans swap first.

I acquired a set of 243 heads for the 6.0 that had some combustion chamber damage, but I'll port/smooth out the chambers when I port them this winter.

That's about it for now.

Thanks Steve.

Oh, almost forgot. I plasti-dipped the wheels a couple weekends ago.

Oh and last weekend I built a custom shifter mechanism. Since trucks have such a high seating position, the shift lever needs to be pretty long. Well, that kinda sucks when you want performance, so I made my own short shifter using three shifters stacked on top of each other. The height should work out perfect and still have a nice short shifter throw, just like a car would.

I found some 1/2" drive sockets the same size as the shifter cup insert, bought two of them, machined a slot down the underside of the sockets, then tack welded it onto the cut down stock shifters. This has since been fully welded in place once I realized it all worked.

No. My job relocated from Vancouver (where I live) to Portland. The commuting traffic alone would make driving a stick a chore so I abandoned the T56 swap.
