Default broken egr tube on header

Just discovered a broken weld on the egr tube on my passnger side header Figures it has to be the pia one. Just what I wanted to do. The headers again. I need to pull it off and have it fixed. I was thinking about removing my secondary air system at the same time. Good idea?

I ordered my headers as "race headers" so they didn't come with emmisions adapters to begin with.......I would just take off your egr.

Well hinesight..lol I hadnt planned on !egr but it just worked out that way. So yea I'll leave the tube off and just have the hole plugged. The good news is maybe, a big maybe, this had something to do with my terrible trap speed. Oh well time to bleed for the car again. Maybe it'll be a good time to do the coil mod as well. But the main thing is if I get rid of the secondary air system that will eliminate a bunch of tubes and hoses from the engine compartment and clean it up a little. Is it a good idea though is the question?

LS1howto.com has instructions basically all the hoses that go around your intake go bye bye and all you have is a fitting that comes from under your intake to the pcv then to the TB much cleaner overall.... Plus it makes R&Ring the intake even easier...

Interesting. I've got a catch can so it isnt the exact same but I'm very familiar with all the hoses. Seems like a lot of work. Can I eliminate the catch can with this mod? Does it remove all the oil from the intake?

I would keep the catch can since you already have it and yes it can help with the oil in the intake. It isn't really alot of work the hardest part is getting the prep done for cutting the tab in the block... (don't know if 99's have it) you cut a very small peice off looks bigger then it is in the pictures. I just finished it. That !air and !egr have really cleaned up the engine compartment.
