Check it out: 2nd Annual All-GM Oktoberfest Car Show @ Silver Springs in FL 10/6/07!
**************** UPDATED INFO AS OF AUGUST 2ND 2007 ****************
Hey guys, we just finished the first go around, and already nailed down the date for the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Show!
National Parts Depot (NPD) just finished hosting a new All-GM show this past Saturday, October 14th 2006, at the beautiful Silver Springs park in Ocala, Florida! We saw almost 500 cars enter the park, and there were many clean examples of GM's early and late from bone-stock to highly modified. Quite a few nice 4th gens, Vettes and even 2 new ZO6 Vettes made an appearance!
Just for some background, NPD has held a Mustang and Fords show in January at Silver Springs, a nature theme park in Ocala, Florida, for the past 12 years. We've always experienced great turnouts for this show (over 1,050 cars this year including 4 Ford GTs and 1,600 pre-registered), plus the attraction of having other things to do besides check out the cars, such as glass-bottom boats to check out the natural springs, a kids petting zoo, and more. Check out http://www.silversprings.com for more on the park and all its attractions.
The date for our 2nd annual GM show is Saturday October 6th 2007. The band Spinners will be playing during the afternoon, and over 35 awards will be given out.
A few new things for this year: a Friday cruise and dyno day!
Friday morning a cruise to Cedar Key from NPD’s main warehouse in Ocala will happen. Participants are encouraged to start gathering around 8 am, and we shoot for a 9 am departing time (130 cars did the Mustang & Fords show cruise in January 2007). A short trip up Interstate 75 north (about 5 miles) leads to county road 326, 19 and 40 cruising through Ocala’s horse farm country and easy driving speeds on the way to scenic Cedar Key. The trip takes about 1-1/2 hours each way, and when arriving in Cedar Key (a nice fishing community with a few good local eating establishments), most participants eat lunch then return to Ocala around 1-2 pm to either stop by NPD and view the car collection (over 120 cars), find a hotel, do whatever (you get the idea). NPD will also host a Dyno Day with VMP Tuning making a visit with their mobile Dynojet chassis dyno. Participants could make two pulls with A/F ratio for $60 (some cars with turn-downs and diesels slightly higher on cost), and the highest pull received a goodie bag from NPD. 16 cars participated in a little over 5 hours time at the January show.
The first 1,000 cars to pre-register by September 29th 2007 will receive free entry into the park for car, driver and one passenger on Saturday. Any entry registering after September 29th, the day of show or beyond the 1,000-car threshold may purchase the show package for $17.00 per car, which still includes passes for driver and one passenger. PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to attend but not show a car, you'll be subject to the standard park entrance fee of $33.99/general, $24.99 for children ages 3-10.
Registration is available for all GM models early or late, as well as all GM-powered street rods and exotics.
The registration form is on our website www.npdlink.com as of June 7th. Go to www.npdlink.com/modules.php?name=Silver_Springs and click the "2nd Annual All GM" banner for a pdf version of the registration form, print it out and mail it in!
High Performance Pontiac, Super Chevy and Chevy High Performance will be in attendance at this event as well.
Shoot me an e-mail at dputnam@npdlink.com if you have any questions.
I have a few photos from our Ford & Mustang Show 2006 are here (if you want to see how we pack the place and park layout): http://community.webshots.com/album/553024330VCxAiI

I like the photo! Not a problem, wish I could have given it to you personally, but I got "lucky" and got the announcing duties instead this year. I got a weird look from a few when I said "each mug comes with a free refill!"
I'll give credit to my boss, he goes all out on awards...
Not sure I want to see THAT trailering job Travis

Sorry Mike, I just caught the post on your requirements question.
No requirements, car can be as mild or wild on modifications as you like. We'll have everything from bone stockers to full-on customs. Everything is popular vote (participants only) on judging, and grouped as car model only, thus not drawing the line on what is considered "modified" as opposed to "stock." It seems to work out too, as we had both sides well represented on the field and in the awards.

Damn, I didn't even have a chance to throw down on Jeff being a puss and not making it last year before Travis laid the card!
You better join us this year Jeff! The parties and fun should be right up your alley!
Travis, well..... I'll try and make the park staff aware that a big group of peaceful people will be arriving from the Panhandle and hope for the best!
