99 ta is totaled! (pics added)
Well at least thats what the body shop is saying. but with prices like $800 for a front bumper cover and 3 hrs to paint and 4 hrs to install no wonder the repairs come to $6,600 it's a total at 6300. So my choices are just let them total it,Find a shop that might do it cheaper( keep in mind if it's withen $500 of being totaled they will usually total it. Or try to get the money and fix it myself. Or yet another option is to let it get totaled and buy it back. but that choice will leave me with a Salvage title. Anyone been through this before? Any advice? Even if i do the work myself i will need to bring it somewhere to get the frame pulled but that can be done for around 3 to 4 hundred. I'll try to post pics of the car all the damage is to the rt fender and paint is chipped on front bumper cover. Also they want to change the k member Because it has a small dent in the skid plate part.

It doesnt sound like that much damage and it wont cost much if the frame will only cost 3-400 to fix. We would need to see pics to tell but if you just need a right fender and front bumper cover, sounds like you could almost be done with less than a grand into it. I would probably just total it, take the money, and fix it myself but post pics.

Cant you also just take a check for the damage? A buddy of mine got his porsche hit and he ended up doing that, made some money and put it into whatever. Seems like body shops can have a rampage on that stuff and it adds up quick.

From what i heard from people that buy and sell a lot of cars once a salvage title always a salvage title. The only diff is the car is worth about 50% of what it would be with a good title. so if i wrecked it again or if it was stolen i'd get about $4000 not enough to get another car.

the insurance company wont write you a check if they declare it totaled, that would happen if the fender was the only problem then he could receive a check.
tough call, i think if i were thinking about fixing it myself, i wouldnt have turned it in.. but you just never know what an insurance company is gonna come out as
i would say if you really want to keep it, and a clean title find a smaller run body shop and scratch up some money

all the seams on the back are fine. The door to rear quater seams are fine and the hatch to rear quaters are fine. just the hood to fenders, hood to front cap and the front of the doors to the front fenders are off.

hate why won't they write me a check if it's totaled? Or for the cost of the repairs? I've had an acident before when i had a diff insurance company and they got an estimate and cut me a check so i could bring it whereever i wanted for the repairs.
