Any way to find out supplier and alternates of factory paint?

Any way to find out supplier and alternates of factory paint? Is there any way for a consumer to look up the original manufacturer/supplier of the paint used on a vehicle at the factory (sherwinn, ppg, ect..) and how many alternates there were for it? Would I have to go to a local supplier/jobber to find this out?

The original manufacturer is going to be tough, but any auto body shop with a paint system should be able to help you out. If there were alternates for a car they will have them. They have to to match. You'd be surprised at the numbers for some cars.
