Bumper/hood paint costs?

Bumper/hood paint costs?
I just got a quote for $1200 to repaint my front bumper and hood. These parts are not wrecked, but the hood/bumper is chipped nomally for 128k miles and the front bumper is scratched etc. from the previous owner parking ON the damn parking blocks/curb. Paint guy also said that he thought the hood had been repainted before, but I had never heard anything about it.
Does this seem a little rediculous? All I want is stock red monkey-*** paint, no flaming skulls riding a pony across a mountain. The rest of the car can be polished/waxed back into shape, but the front's pretty bad.
They said it the parts would need to be disassembled, stripped down, and repainted. What if I took everything apart, and just brought them the two pieces? Should reduce the cost right?

I had to replace my front bumper cover and I had some rock chips in my hood. I took everything apart and took the hood and bumper to the painter and he quoted me 850 and I told him 800 and he took it.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that price included some glass work on the hood.

Yup, that's ridiculous
I had my front nose removed, hand block sanded, base and clear, reinstalled (oh, and that included the WW Front Spoiler that I installed) for $375
Had my hood removed, paint stripped off (due to acid rain marks), hand block sanded for 8 hrs., special underlayer put on to keep acid rain marks from coming back, base coat, paint on blackbird stripes, clear overall, hood re-installed - all for $540
The guy that does the painting for ANY of my cars is excellent and paints everything as if it were his own. He works for a local collison shop here in PA...

Hey Blur, it's funny I found this thread because I haven't visited this forum in about 6 months. You are looking to get the exact same thing done as me. Hood and bumper due to rock chips.
I'll be looking around town for quotes soon. On the topic of that - can you get accurate quotes from body shops over the phone, or do they want to see the car?
Can you get a better quote if you talk to them in person?

I'll be going to get some more quotes tomoree. I'll let you guys know if I can find some lower prices.
The pace I went to was the best place in town, and I knew they'd be higher than most, but damn. This Camaro isn't worth enough to spend money on something I can't take off and put on my new Camaro SS in the future lol.

find yourself a production shop, a lot of inurance type shops dont wanna bother so they quote rediculous to get ya to leave lol. Also your definately gonna want it blended into the fenders, would be shitty to have a miss matched paint .
Now the for the guy with the black TA, find a production shop also. But ask them how much if they use single stage paint instead of base coat, then clear it. Black can be dead paneled and doesnt need blending. We use single stage paint on all black cars that come through. Its about half the cost of base coat.

I got quoted $850 to get my front bumper and hood painted and blended into the fenders. The rest of the car waas going to get glazed and polished or something like that. I thought that was kinda expensive. I think I am just going too wait and fork out the cash for a whole custom job.

Im almost in the same boat, granted Im getting a custom stripe job on my hood, having the fenders blended, fixing a 6 inch scratch on my body kit, and having the car polished for the fine scratches on my door all for $1100, think im going to pay it cause I want to job done right. I just dropped my car off at the body shop today. Heres what Im getting done:
Repaint front bumper
Paint WS6 hood with blue stripes down the nostrils
repaint the rear bumper
And they said they would do the CETA mod basically for nothing.
All of this for $1100 at a good shop I have had do work in the past.
Also, the guy is going to see if he can extend the stripes to the rear of the car at no charge or slightly a bit more. They are going to get back with me on that. But in a nutshell Im paying less and getting more painted. Id keep searching...

My black SS hood goes into the paint shop this afternoon. It is full of tiny white specks because of paint chips. The quality of the hood paint seems like it was never quite the same as the rest of the car. I'm the original owner, so I know the paint is original. Refinish is going to be $320.

Got my quote today.
Work needed:
Remove Bumper
Remove Hood
Remove Headlight covers
Repair/Sand all pieces
Paint, base/clear
$1650
I thought about the fenders too but at that price, I'm not sure
It's a family member so I thought of them first. Now it isn't his shop, he just works there so he can't really cut me a deal. I will get a few other estimates though...
