Default Holy High Stall Speed Shudder Batman!

Ok, picked up the car from the trans shop today. As soon as I got out onto the road, the car starts shuddering like the drivetrain is literally going to rip itself out from under the car. Bad misfiring, the whole works.

Figuring this is related to the stall. I did some searching and found that this is common and not abnormal. Tuning will fix the issue.

PT4000 stall.

No really sure what your describing, but installing a stall shouldn't make the motor run like ****. It will load the engine more and might lean it out, but it should still run fine. Is the converter locking and the engine rpms are so low that the car starts bucking and jerking? If so you might need to raise the converter apply and release speeds...

Try driving the same way but with your foot lightly
on the brake. That will make the converter unlock
and show you whether it's the clutch shuddering.
If so then eliminating the TCC PWM may fix it. Or
it might just "bed in" and slip more quietly. But the
PT series may have a high-abuse clutch material
that isn't as Grandma-friendly (?) and then you
want to not-slip as much as possible for twice as
many reasons.

Well, did a scan this morning on the way home from work (didn't have time to scan yesterday). Turns out the computer was not seeing the o2 sensors switching and was trying to over-richen the mix. I just turned the trims off and everything went to normal. More than likely, the tranny shop screwed up the ground connection. Will check everything over my next day off. I didn't think it was the converter by itself. I've had cars with high stalls in them and never saw anything like this.

Needless to say, my VE tuning is pretty much getting to be dead-on. As, she ran super smooth without any trims. Idle is nice, too (tranny shop didn't believe me when I told them it was cammed as it idles smooth). No surge at all. Although not as evident with this huge stall, there is still a minor amount of cruise control effect. I'll get to it. Just not enough time with all the overtime they're making me work.

Open loop for the win!
