The Immediate Effect Of Descreening SLP 85mm MAF
I got a wild hair last night & popped the
screen out of my >>'01-'02<< SLP 85mm MAF.
Today I cruised a little and was looking
at LTFT and STFT readouts on the Predator.
What I saw was that I had high negative STFT
values (-6% - -8%) pretty much across the
RPM range when I set out. This was kinda
surprising since the "conventional wisdom"
is that, if anything, descreening would make
it leaner (which would make positive STFTs).
I don't think things have settled yet, but
the LTFTs remain in the slight negative
(-6% down low, -4% higher up) range and I
guess it's all good (on this F-body with
Blackwing lid, anyway; descreening might be
kind of dependent on the pre-MAF intake tract
geometry, airflow bias, etc., if your lid is
funny your mileage might vary).
So maybe when it all settles I can back off
some on the PE, looks like I won't have to
give it more anyway.
