Default predator and maft help at wot

I got a predator a few months ago and that helped me know why my car was such a dog. My lt's were + so I got a maft and set the base to +5% and that got the lt's to - and 0 at wot. Now I have problems with my wot tuning using my predator. I sometimes get some kr around 1.54 and pinging. Not always, about 40$ of the time. My 02's are around 890-910 and timing go from 18-21.5 is the highest it goes. I have tried upping the PE by +.10% and the timing up the same but the timing won't go any higher than 21.5 and that is with both some kr and no kr. There's this long 65mph flat road I do my live data reading on and the car will run like a beast for a short time then when the pcm adjusts it runs like a dog. I know getting the car on a dyno is the best thing to do but I don't have the $$ and also want plan to add a catback in the future and then would need more testing and also I need to be able to return everything back to stock when going to the dealer. My questions are is 21.5 of tming ok for a 02 LS1 and should I tune my 02's using the predator or try the maft? Also should could my problem be the fipk and it;s very high iat's temps until I get moving for a while. Maybe I should try my lid again. My iat's yesterday were around 127 at idle and drop no lower than 79 on the highway. I know that can cause low timing and some kr.

Default Re: predator and maft help at wot

The MAFT, to make LTFTs go negative, increases
the reported airflow (frequency). The PCM sees
this as higher load and pulls spark. Why a stock
'02 would have negative trims is a mystery, it is
not normal.

Getting your ECT and IAT down will help you with
pinging / KR, if you haven't set your fans then do
it, and look into some sort of cold air system.
I have the SLP CAI and don't recommend it (I like
mine so much I cut it down to almost nothing left
and it makes the IAT higher than the SS hood alone
although it does relieve one airflow choke point).

PE movement of 0.1% won't do much. Try +1% - +2%
to cover 5% increased spark.

You might want to try putting the stock MAF back
on and start fresh, especially if you got the
wrong ('98-'00) version SLP for your car; '01-'02
don't respond so well to "lets just lean it out
some".

I am running the stock maf and with no tuning at all the lt's were always at +2.32-3.91. The maft got them down to - 2 but the car doesn't feel any better at all. I have the fans set down. I also have done the throttle bypass mod. With my fipk the car iat's in the heat are much higher than with the lid.
