Default Single Turbo Ls1---- Change of Plans...Motor is coming out:|

Lets take a pole...Ive got a ls1 with 224/224 598/598 114 cam, stock 317 heads, ls6 intake, stock tb, 60lb injectors, MP70 intercooled.

So heres the question. Im looking to have it tuned soon, MAF or SD? Cost wise, SD is the better choice for me. If I were to go the MAF route, Im looking at an upgraded sensor (~250$) and more dyno time. From what ive gathered, MAF are more capable of making adjustments for variables on the fly. The MAF is placed close to the intake on the TB so there is not a long stretch of straight pipe on either side...This being said....What do you guys think? Any insight/experience would be greatly appreciated.

SD gets my vote.

Thanks,
Chandler

I would do an EFILive 2 bar speed density custom operating system...

8lbs boost or less, MAF is simpler.
over 8lbs go SD, you'll like the fact if you blow a hose, you can still drive.
MAF is only good for incremental changes while driving, quick change cause unsteady state and it reads your VE tables.
my vote is SD

very helpful. Thank you. The car has a massive oil leak from the pan so i started pulling the motor last night.

Also, when running, I took the oil filler cap off and it smokes pretty bad, which is just blow by. But....when i put my hand over the filler, I could feel individual puffs of air. I think i may have a broken ring land? I didnt think that much blow by was normal at idle....?

I will have the motor out tonight and then a compression check is in order.

This may need to be moved to the FI section.

Thanks,
chandler
