Old AutoTap AT1 To Work With New USB?
I've had AutoTap since '02 (paid $250 for it too!!!). I've got the AT1 with Serial (9 PIN) connector. My laptop that I'd always used it on died and I just ordered a new Acer Aspire One Netbook with Windows XP, and a bunch of USB ports, but no 9 PIN.
Is it as simple as buying a USB to Serial converter to use my current AutoTap. This is what I'm talking about:
http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-USB-t...2787725&sr=8-1
Or, what do I need to do to make my old AutoTap run on my new netbook? Also, since it doesn't have a CD drive, I'm presuming I can just download the program from AutoTap, but which version am I looking for? My old version works on my '98 Z28 as well as my wife's '02 Saturn, but it didn't work on my '04 Saturn Vue. Can a newer version handle all 3?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Just made it all work today!
Step 1: Buy $4 Serial (9 PIN) to USB adapter on ebay
Step 2: Use the installation software to install the the serial to USB adapter. I had to use a different computer that had a CD ROM and copy the files to a flash drive to load onto my Acer netbook that doesn't have a CD drive.
Step 3: Load AutoTap V1.11 by using the same method (copy CD to flash drive)
Step 4: AutoTap works on new Netbook with NO serial port or CD ROM.
According to AutoTap, V2.05 should work the same way, but I actually like V1.11 since I'm more familiar with it AND I still had the CD from when I bought it.
