ls1 will not idle, help

ls1 will not idle, help ls1 in my off road racer,
ran fine in my last racer , finally got it fired up. it wont idle. orignnaly fired it it had a vaccum leak and idled at 2 or 3k. i unhooked the comp and fixed the vaccum leak now it wont even start unless the throttle is cracked. if i let off it backfires and dies. also sounds a little rough.
wheni was going through the motor before install found the throttle body not seated. most likely leaking vaccum, could it have learned the idle with a vaccum leak.
i need help i am racing this car in king of the hammers in a couple weeks and i need to get it going
oh yeah.
ls1 with old howell harness an what i believe styock computer but possibly tuned by howell
truck heads, and cam
