ECU switch?
this is my question i have a 2000 camaro z28 and just put headers on it and have yet to tune the ecu so the engine is running rich. it is also a 6 speed car. a buddy of mine has a ECU from a 2002 camaro "auto car" already flashed for what i need which include ECU set up for no egr/air cats, rear o2 and LT's. can i switch out the two computers? i have the 241 heads etc as this car did aswell. so would switching the ecu help clean up my air to fuel ratio since that ECU was already tuned for it. either way he just gave the ecu to me cause he carbed his ls1 for his 66 chevelle.. thanks

You can swap it but it will throw codes since its tuned for an auto and yours is a stick. Provided he had the same cam it should be close. Won't be exact, of course.

but codes can always be deleted right? i just want to get it running closer to the proper air to fuel ratio then save up money for a proper tune. it shouldnt cause any serious damage to the engine thou correct even if cams are slightly different? cause i am running way rich right now flames coming out my exhaust due to the free flowing exhaust.

On the Aussie cars, using an auto calibration in a manual prevents the reverse lock out solenoid from functioning, making selecting reverse a real pita.
The quick way would be to get your mates pcm & a manual segment swap done to the tune to fix this & other issues. But if you were going that way you may as well get your own pcm tuned.
