Default automatic headlights

i have a 98 z28 and hate the auto headlights. When i get my tune done soon, is there any way i can get the auto feature turned off? also if it is possible, will i lose my running lights during the daytime.... just my oranges lit in the front with tail lights off? thanks

Just pull the connector off the photocell in the dash and it will think it is daylight all the time. The DRL control is not in the engine computer so a tune can not fix it.

Lift up the plastic part of the dash by the security LED with something like a butter knife. It is held down with velcro. The auto headlight sensor is mounted next to the LED. Unplug the connector and short the wires together with a short piece of thin bare wire. Your auto headlights will then be disabled and you will have to use the headlight switch to turn them on.

Sounds like you have to have the circuit completed to make it "daylight all the time." Then again, I might have it backwards though. Just unplug the sensor and wait a few moments to see what happens. If your lights come on, then you know you'll need to use the jumper wire to complete the circuit. If your lights stay off with the sensor unplugged, just wrap it up and you should be good to go.

Hahaha!!! True, that's why I don't let people drive my cars.

O.P. Glad you got it working.
