Default Part Throttle Timing in LS1 Edit

Can you or is it highly recommended to add more timing in the Base Spark and Drive Timing table in LS1 Edit?

Would adding 1-2 degrees of timing across the board in those tables, help with cam surge, idle issues? Or should you subtract 1-2 degrees of timing to burn the fuel earlier in the stroke cycle at lower RPM levels?

Just wondering when it is necessary to adjust those tables.

Thanks,

Bill

Actually, adding timing will make the burn happen earlier.
But generally speaking cars with cams and good exhaust can benefit having more timing under low load driving conditions.

Actually one other thing. There are closed and open timing tables too. So idle timing should be adjusted by the closed throttle timing maps.

Thanks for the reply Mike!

What would you recommend for a heads/cam car? Just add 2 degrees accross the board for part throttle timing?

Which one is the open loop timing table?

Sorry, I meant to say closed and open throttle timing tables.
The main timing table is you high octane timing map.
You can probably get away with a couple degrees in the low load area.
It's best to data log a driving event and see what you load is under most light throttle (less than 25%) driving conditions. From there you can add some timing.

Also Head/Cam cars usually like a few extra degrees at idle too.
