I was wondering if an ECU can be programmed for different transmissions. I often run into ECUs for Automatics and really need one for a 6 speed. I know the ECU can be reprogrammed for different gear ratios and fuel curves but what about the tranny? Sorry if this is a newbie question, I just cant seem to find the answer any where.

If you can find a file with the same segment 1 ID, you can upload that file and be OK.. So, the short answer is find a file from the same year, with the same segment 1 ID, with the transmission you want..

A better way would be to get the PCM flashed by a dealer with the appropriate image.
