98 camaro tuning?
the car is a 98 camaro ls1 with a few bolt ons and a cam. I have a full nitrous setup for the car but havnt tried it out. I want to get the car tuned or get the tune looked at before I spray her so I know its safe. I was told I need to switch to a 99+02 computer to be able to tune it. Is there any way around that or is that just something I have to do.

You do not need to switch to the newer operating system to tune it. I had a 402 with n20 and tuned it just fine on the older operating system. I did upgrade for the sole purpose of having a bigger maf table.

98 PCM is fine. Whoever told you that doesn't know what he's talking about.
Of course 99-02 PCM is better than 98, and newer ones are better than 99-02, but it doesn't mean you need to swap to a newer PCM each time GM designs a new one. You can do it if you want to get more proccessing power, but even LT1 PCMs are fine for boosted cars
