Default e38 ls7 tuning help?

I am trying to tune a 69 Camaro with a ls7 swap and 80e trans. It has head, cam, intake and headers and running off a an 08 express van pcm. We got a lot of stuff working but we are having problems tuning the maf for ide and driveabilty. For some reason the pid for maf in Hz will not log so we can't log it to get it dialed in. The pid for the maf that measures lbs/min works but I don't think that will do me any good with the maf table.

Also, what timing do most of you guys run with a ls7 setup like this? We were getting false knock at 17* so we turned them off and it picked up a bunch of power without any audible detonation.

I'm using HPtuners on this car.

As for no Maf Hz pid, go to your Hp Tuners folder>VCM Scanner>Vehicles & delete either your OS, or just delete them all. Then when your connect the scanner to your vehicle, it will re-poll the Pids and you should be able to add the Maf Hz to your table display.

Also what version do you have? Might need to download the latest one.

I use 22* WOT with the LS7, and double the knock retard decay & half the knock retard attack table. And a 160* thermostat & lowered fan temps are a must.

Thanks Russ. Why only 22* on a ls7? I would normally run 27* for NA.

Because you don't make any more power with all that timing, and after a WOT 1-2-3-4 run, there will be spark knock.
