Will adding Cats affect tune?
Hey there, I'm looking at a 99 Trans Am for sale and there is one that was dyno tuned to 430 whp. Heads and cam car. I have a few Noob questions. I want to add high flo cats to keep me out of trouble, would adding the cats affect the tune any since it was tuned without cats? Do you guys think an exhaust shop can add cats to a off road y? And last question, will I lose the tune if I disconnect the battery for the winter during storage.

Cats will add backpressure and lessen VE at the upper
end. This probably doesn't matter if you are running a
normal MAF setup, and if it did, it would be a rich error
in result (not too threatening).
An exhaust shop should be able to add cats. I'd say
to get the cats flanged, and have the shop also make
an identically flanged set of straight pipes or hollow
shells (somebody sells dummy shells, forget the name)
and then flange the exhaust to match, so you've got
options.
