On the TBSS you can change the VIN no problem but it has to go to a dealer or someone who has the software and if it's still in a 08 TBSS you have to program the radio to the new VIN and you have to replace the XM radio module as it is VIN locked and is non reprogrammable.

On the blazer same thing as above if you can find a VIN that has all the options for your specific likings.

With both you gotta be very careful that both vehicles are like optioned or you will wind up with some options not working and or warnings for systems your vehicle is not equipped with.

The TBSS BCM is not in that body,we tried to change VIN in the radio(BOSE)with tech2 and it wouldnt take. The XM module VIN can be changed
Ive found a few places that can do the XM(including one you mentioned to me)

You cant change the VIN in the radio or the BCM using tech 2. You need to reprogram radio and BCM using GM TIS 2 web and the MDI programming module.

As far as XM goes using gm software it is VIN locked and unreprogrammable to other VINs once it locks to the OEM vin. If the aftermarket can change it then it's beyond me I only use and am familiar with OEM programming methods.

ok thanks
If I can get the VIN changed in the BCM I wont need to change the VIN in the XM or the radio.
Then I can get the XM module,I Pod input and steering wheel controls to work.
Ive already done what everyone said you cant do is to change radios across car lines and make it work.No one in my area has even a clue how to do this.

The biggest issue is there are only a couple people who know how to do it (Im not one of them) so there hardly isnt any info out there on it. Im sure if a company thought the market was large enough then others would look into developing something but its a high cost initially for the developing is the hold back would be my guess.

yea hence me starting this.
Hopefully someone will shed a little light on this
every little bit helps if we pool resources
You know it started out this way when PCMs were first cracked.

facing almost the same thing on the Northstar PCMs now one except Westers
seems to be able to do anything with them. So much so was this a burden
that Shelby chose to use the LS based PCM on his Northstar powered Series II.
that will be the next thing I need to replicate.

Thanks in advance to all that may help shed some light on this.

Nah, they do jeep conversions, but they'll sell to anybody. He's pretty busy; I'd call back again before I'd wait for a call return.

You can do vin relearn in the radio with tech 2, select 2006 monte carlo , but you need bin version 31.007 or older all newer version have removed it. Also to do module programing you need to use the tis2web site with a approved mdi or other approved pass through device. $55 for 2 day subscription. I have the 31.007 I can send you but you would have to load it to pcmcia card your self.
thanks

I tried the 06 MC radio relearn
It didnt work
The sat radio module cant be reprogrammed via tech 2 so Im attacking it from another angle by changing VIN in the BCM. Hope Westers can do it..... Ill check and see what version is on the tech2 thanks for the offer I may need to do that if this doesnt work

What year and model of the vehicle? did it come with xm, bose, etc...?

what did the radio come out of? Is the radio vin locked? did it come with xm, bose. etc....?

The xm module don't need programming unless they are vin locked also but unlikely, the Radio and maybe the BCM needs programing to turn on the xm, and what ever other features you need.
You need to trick the system to think it came with what ever features you want.

I would get a hold of a mdi or other J2534 device and re program the radio through the GM sit for the features you want xm, bose, etc...
This site https://www.acdelcotds.com/acdelco/action/home

Check this video out about programming the radio through GM's site.
This video is about adding backup camera to a navigation radio, but adding other functions is the same.
Hope this helps
Thanks

SS thanks for the info
Ill look into that if my plan doesnt work.
Radio,XM and Bose all came from an 08 TB SS
the Radio and XM are a matched set but I couldnt get the radio
to do a VIN relearn.Even if I did then the XM would no longer match the radio
so I went a different route. I couldnt get the BCM for the vehicle the radio
came out of so I got one from another TBSS(yea radio, bose and XM were already sold from it) so now the VINs dont match on the BCM and the radio.
My plan is to get the BCMs VIN changed to match the radio. Ive got the radio,
Bose and a sub amp working but I cant use the steering wheel controls or the
XM until I get the BCM thing figured out.As you may know theres been alot of problems with newer radios not taking VIN relearns and mines no exception.
