article says it's to reflash but perhaps it's just to check your ECU to see if it has been modified - because automakers are trying to make that illegal http://jalopnik.com/carmakers-want-t...eca-1699132210

I would think.. they would program a "reach around" into the unit, so they could bypass the lock. [Or, maybe even brick the pcm, should it be locked.]
In any case, those ******** will find a way to exert more control over our hobby.
I have Onstar on my 14 Silve. Dropping the subscription may not be enough to prevent them logging in. Disconnecting the antenna, may be a sure fire way, tho.
