Default Sequential Gearbox with a Gen3 PCM - How to reduce torque for shifting

We have a race car with a LSx engine using a 2000 F body PCM.

We are installing a sequential gear box and need a method to reduce torque during shifts.

We discussed interrupting the ignition coils, but we also discussed interrupting the IAT, which I believe will throw the ignition into a different map, which could be used to reduce torque.

Anybody know if this will work? Will it cause problems with the PCM?

Any input on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I think your idea to trigger the IAT sensor on a clutch switch is probably the best bet for a consistent and easily adjustable shift timing retard. I think an open circuit on the IAT will show as the lowest readable temperature. Then you can set this IAT Spark Advance Correction table in the 14° column to pull timing. Nitrous guys sometimes do this same thing with their nitrous activation switch so they can have just one tune in the ECM.
