Default Going from 98 to 99+ harness what needs to be done

My buddie has a 98 trans am with a STS turbo kit. He wants to tune it for E85 but I see these 98 computers are junk for tuning. What all needs to be done to swap in a 99+ harness or is it better to repin the 98 harness to work with a 99+ PCM? Just need to know all I will need or problems we could run into. Thanks guy

We just made a little over 700 RWHP on a 98 with a turbo on E85 using one of those junk 98 PCMs. 2 Bar SD OS. But repin away.

I was told that it's a pain in the *** to tune a 98 PCM. What software did u use? I heard EFI live is what u need instead of Hp tuners.

Well you heard wrong. HP Tuners is your only option. There is no custom OS available for 98s with EFI Live. HP Tuners has a 2 Bar SD COS. It was no more of a pain in the *** than tuning a 99-02 2 bar COS. As long as you stay 210 kPa or less it works just fine.

I'm just buying a new complete wiring harness thats ready for the 99+ PCM......then buy the 0411 PCM and plug it all in. Done.

Or have your 98 wiring harness repinned for the new 0411 PCM......lots of people do it. A guy local to me charges like $100.00 to repin.

.
