Default Total Timing???

I have had my car tuned I have a pretty big cam and they didnt pick up much from tuning I'd rather not say who tuned it lets just say it was a big mistake. anyways My WOT timing is at 38 degrees I am running N/A at this time..can I get more, or would I benefit from less timing?Any Help would be appreciated=)

Must...back off timing. You probably have so much advance dialed in that your engine is going to blow. Who tuned it (you can PM if it is that big of a deal)?

38 degress + big cam and she's still holding? Spray/boost it and go for the REAL engine stress test.

Seriously though, that ain't right... Fix ASAP.

You should gain power. That is too much advance.

Well I have had the cam in the car and it has done good exept for valve guides. BTW if I have autotap, when I am at wot thats my TTiming Right??
Well the car runs good exept for Bad knock but they always said "oh its just 98 false knock" so Maybe its not false knock??? The car dyno'd monday and put down 390HP and 388TQ thats with just longtubes, lid, free modes and tr55's So you think if I get a good tune I will pick up power or Lose??The cam is a "RS239" 236 612 600 on a 109+1 that will give you a hint as to who tuned it, they also used to be a sponsor for LS1Tech=)

damn... 38* i'm surprised the engine lasted the tune... you sure that's not part throttle advance? In atap when TPS is 100% you should be able to see timing advance, should start lower then go up.. but even a peak of 38 is a buttload of timing... 28* seems to be a good amount for many cars.. some contineu to make power up to about 30* ... but if you're actually getting 38* I'll bet you'll pickup power by dropping timing ...

Is there anyway to change my TTiming without a tune, or to richen it up.. I have seen some of the nitrous guys talk about Iat resistors??? and to me it also seems wierd that the car runs better not at wot just eeeeeesssing into it seems like it has more power than just slamming the throttle..P.S. has anyone figured out the Tuner I am talking about??

i havent, but as far as the resister goes you can use one that will tell the computer its reading hotter then it really is...but it depends on how they set up your iat vs temp settings...stock it only pulls out up to like 3 degrees of timing so if they didnt touch it youd still be running 35 degrees of timing seemingly...see if someone in your aread has hptuners for your year and see if they will let you look at your bin so we can all see it and maybe someone out there will hook you up on the cheap with getting everything right if need be.

When you told me the cam specs....it has to be AMS!

AMS got what they deserved, but I find it REAL hard to think that Chris M put 38* of total timing in your car. Are you sure about that?

They were screwing a bunch of people over....so they closed the doors. Sucks for the people that didn't get what they paid for, but it won't happen to others in the long run. I'm guessing they filed for bankruptcy to get out from under all the $$$/parts they owe people.

I would never go WOT until it was re-tuned. Other than that, you may be OK. You are far exceeding where your KR vs. PE can compensate. If you are getting the typical 4 degrees of KR that 98s get, then that means that they dialed in 42 degrees of advance at WOT at some points...or they disabled KR in PE mode.

I think a local guy went a 7.0 with that cam. Cam Motion is who grinds it, so you'll be fine.

A good friend of mine owns Simple Quick...he is an ex-employee of AMS. He has HP tuners for that year. Would you be up for a road trip and I could see if he would give you a hell-a-deal on a tune? He is in Fort Worth. Shoot me PM if so and I'll give him a call. He is an honest guy and has done all the work on my car.
