MAF homemade screen ???
Aloha,
Anyone ever try to make a screen out of the fiberglass screen (like on your house windows),or out of metal screen?I have about a week until my new MAF gets here,i'm dying to experiment with this one.I want to see if it makes any change in my scans before i toss this one.
Mahalo....Todd..

I think this would be a phenomenally bad idea.
The airflow through the MAF is huge at WOT
and high RPM. Way, way more than a Shop-Vac
or any other vacuum source I've been able to
put to flow testing them. If that wimpy window
screen ever gets loose, you know where it's
going to go, and you know it won't be pretty.
The "screen" in the MAFs is really a thick metallic
honeycomb with high stiffness. I think it's in a
sense, an array of capillary tubes meant to
even out the flow. I don't think a simple screen
would do the same job, or nowhere near as well.
