Default Are all .bins created equal?

Would it be possible to take a .bin file from a 03 holden car and edit the tables with the proper values of a 03 5.3 truck and have it operate properly? I am assuming the actual software thats on the pcm is standard and it is just the tables that have different values for the various motors needs? Of course I would have to have some way to put my vin on that .bin to convert it to an 02-03 truck file so that I can load it with my HPT, but I will take this one step at a time

There are various operating systems on the different bin's. While the data will transfer from win 2000 to win XP. You need to make sure the hardware is compatible with the software your using. 98 bin's will not work in anything else, the 99-04 bin's have a good chance of interchangability.

HP tuners locks based on vin and OS versions, so you can't simply just change the vin to allow you to program it on another vehicle.

I am not trying to get around the hp tuners protection scheme. I only want a feature that the holden vehicles have that mine does not....

Interesting question. I would like to know what the
outcome of merging a Mad Max OS with factory data
would do. Perhaps a stripper real time core might do
a better job than all the domestic lawyered-up
fanciness. Long as you can still see the right data in
the right place and put it back clean. A good thing
to try on a rainy day with your spare PCM.

You do have a spare PCM, don't you?

No, I dont have the means to change a vin on a holden image file to match my truck. I only have a 2 licence copy of HPT for an 02 and 03 truck.
