Need help tuning with over 3500 stall, takes forever to lock up.
My Yank SS3500 stalls to just under 4k for one, not sure why exactly but its cool with me, just the tranny it hard as hell to tune. Some days it shifts nice around town and goes right into lockup, other days it takes 5 miles or more on the highway to lock. Other days I can be cruising at 70mph and it just comes unlocked. How do I fix this with HPTuners? Any help would be great.

You probably do not have all your cells edited properly, you must make sure that the up shift from 3/4 is slightly before the lockup is enabled on the converter in 3rd gear and that lu in 4th,the speed is lower then what the upshift is...this will mean that the converter will lock as soon as it upshifts to 4th. also on the 4th ul cells, they must be 3-4mph lower then the lu cells at the same % of tps..same goes for 3rd. make sure your hot trans settings and cruise trans settings are the same as well as max setting match those in your 100% tps cell. If you have a fax, I can send you my hole edit which works awsome for drivability and racing..its for a 3500 lu and 3.15 gears but you can just add or subtract from each cell 1-2mph to accuratly reflect your gear ratio. Remember what gets done to one colume in %tps must be done the same to each cell in that colume or you may have the converter lock up at 19% throttle then all of a sudden you let off a bit and the converter will unlock and lock again. max

Look at your misfire history and current values while
cruising, see if you need to raise the misfire thresholds.
This is the most common reason for the converter to
unlock (though you want any thermal problems to be
taken care of, too; look at the trans temp and see if
it's above 175F or so, you want a cooler pretty much
regardless).

How about a converter install tuning guide as everyone who puts a convertor in has the same problem. Lockup is a pita with the LS1 and i know first hand because i have a 99 LS1 and im still trying to get my car to operate correctly with the new PI stall convertor. Please dont say search as this will lead to everyone else having the same probs with no real souloutins. Anyone who replies to this should have a def fix, not just a comment on what maybe to try.
