Default Neutral safety switch (m6) can I bypass it?

we all know that in order to start our LSx cars, no matter if the car is in the neutral gate, you still have to depress the clutch.

Well this is the second time this has happend.
sometimes my 01 z28 m6 wont start, because of the neutral safety switch being tempermental and going out.

so has any one just removed (BYPASSED) the switch? I always leave my car in neutral anyways, so since is this the second time the switch as started to go out on me I figure I will just cut it out and bypass it.

Will this work? and does it throw any ses codes?

Are you talking about the clutch switch? Is that what you are referring to as the neutral safety switch?

If so, I'd think you could bypass it...people have to to be able to use remote starters on a 6 speed. Just don't leave it in gear

yeah that is the switch I am refering too.

good point, i forgot people are running remote starts on m6's

since I my switch has gone out twice I figure screw it, time to get rid of it.
and yeah I have to keep the car in neutral and could be bad front end damage!

You should be fine with that...you should just be able to get rid of the switch, and put the wires together to bypass it.

If you cant just put the two wires together, check the resistance of the switch when it is depressed and put a resistor of that value in there.

all you need is a jumper wire to plug into the connector once you remove it from the switch

I've manually engaged mine with no results. Bypassed the switch and connected the wires directly and still nothing. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I'm currently stuck at work and no way home so a quick fix to get me home would be very helpful.

It works just fine, however, most of the time, the issue is the starter itself, or it was the starter relay going bad and it was just coincidence that it was working when it was.

The coil for the starter relay is grounded thru the BCM. Any BCM problems will keep it from cranking over.
