P1153 insufficient switching - supposed to turn off the MIL after 3 consecutive warm up cycles test runs and doesn't fail, stays as a "history" code for 40 cycles w/o a failure. I'd just clear the code if you can, or reset the PCM. If the problem is still there the SES will return on the second consecutive warm up cycle the diag runs and fails.

I'd just reset the PCM, will clear all codes, along with any in history. Idle will be a little grumpy at first until it relearns.

Turn key on, don't start car
Pull PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
Wait 5-10 min
Turn ignition off
Replace fuses

Sounds like you got the PCM reset - P1153 illuminates the SES on the second ignition cycle with a failure. You can also try a couple drive cycles- www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html

Can you pass OBDII emissions test (scan) after doing this? Or will it not be "ready"?

No, you'll need some OBDII drive cycles because the readiness tests will be reset and have to start over.

I'm stock, and have the P0420 "cat" code. I'll try going through the dealer for the federal warranty. O2 Sims would cure that code, right? I don't have to go for emissions until August.

02 sims will turn the light off - but if the cat is coming apart inside/rattling/clogged/rear 02 is bad, etc. you'll still have the problem.
