Default PLEASE HELP, we found the problem.

Learned that our LS6 assembled block will not start because the LS6 crank reluctor has 58 teeth & the previous crank reluctor had 24. The car still uses a 98 PCM of which wants the 24 tooth count. OK, now what is the best solution? Change the PCM & sensors or pull the crank reluctor from the LS6 crank & install the 24 tooth crank reluctor? Secondly, would the incorrect crank signal result in the PCM keeping us from connecting to it through the OBDII connector? I think not, but, would like an experienced opinion.
Thank-you.
