Default ignition cut/mis-firing rev limiter

I have been thinking about this for a while. The LS1 uses a fuel cut to limit engine revs which is good for a stock point of view however for high HP forced induction applications this creates a period of extremely lean condition. I was wondering if there is a kit that cuts ignition spark rather than fuel. I know there are kits out there for the JDM/import crowd but havn't seen any for american cars. It also makes a nice boom/backfire when it cuts the ignition because there is still fuel being added with no spark so it ends up explodiong later down the line in the exhaust.

Don't recall ever seeing this but have seen folks
mention fading the spark advance table deliberately
for that kind of effect.

a fuel cut is not a lean condition. no fuel = no combustion.
