Default changing from 2000 OS to 2002 OS??

Can i just flash a tune from a 2002 car onto my 2000 TA and then copy over my tables for VE and maf and all my other values.... I want to run a FAST 90/90 setup and run speed density so there isnt any restrictions on my new intake setup...

Depends on operating system version.
You can usually do a full OS update including the calibration if its not the same.
If you want to run SD you are best off running a special operating system specifically designed to retain dual spark maps etc.

My car is a 2000 flashed with 2002. Not sure how it was done, but know that it can be... This was done with HPTuners...

what is the reason you want to upgrade exactly? As to how, just find a stock OS that is known to be good and do a write entire.

I've got a 2000 running with COS3. Operating system based on a 2002. Needs full reflash available from commercial version of EFI. Sure its also available from HP.

From what I was told.... GM's os got better as they progressed and it got rid of a few unnecessary things that the previous versions had.... Don't quote me, it's just what I was told... 2002 is better than 2000????

generally speaking yes the newer the better in some aspects, 02' OS's have a few more tables/parameters available so if thats what your looking for it might be a good move...if you already own both model years it wouldnt be a bad choice but I doubt you'll get much if any performance gain out of the switch. Anywayz when it comes time just use the comparison copy all feature to swap over all your changes to the new OS...even though they are completely different Operating systems hptuners allows you to compare them.

2000 and earlier have the back-up VE tables which add some extra steps when doing VE tuning.

hptuners custom 1 bar OS gets rid if it though & it's cheaper then having to upgrade to an 01+ operating system, that was why I was asking why upgrade...there really are on a few things the new OS's have over the old at least from what I can see.

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9061

The Cylinder Charge Temperature Bias table is one reason I'm thinking about changing my custom 1-bar OS to a 02 OS, unless HPT can add that to the 1-bar OS as requested.

i wanted to upgrade because of the single Ve table in the 02 year....I want to run speed density and if i do with my 2000 OS it will use the backup ve table which has half the resolution as the primary table or the single table in 2001+02.Thats the only reason why i want it really.

The HPT 1-bar custom OS will eliminate the secondary VE table for half the price of buying a new 02 license (if you already have access to the 02 license, then definetly go for it). The only problem with the HPT 1-bar OS is that it doesn't add the Cylinder Charge Temperature Bias table.

no, upgrade instructions for a 1 bar custom OS should be on your customer login page though.

Does it write over the VIN in the computer or is it just a 'flash and play' type operation?
