Are Predator tuners any good?
A local speed shop says Predators are the best tuners for my 98Z. They want $410 for the unit and say I need a custom program for another $210 to set it up for the headers I'm going to install. They claim they have to set the base program and delete the rear o2 codes. Can I buy the tuner and do that myself.

Predators would be a lot more fun if they actually let you buy the CMR software that the speed shop has. Until that software is made available (at a competitive price) to the public, the Predator is like playing in little league. Step up to the majors with a tuning suite like EFI Live and you'll be glad you did.

*Edit* - Sorry to sound like a prescription drug commercial...I'm a little bored at work today.

If you do get a tuning software, you can download a Predator bin file from the repository at the top of this section and just do a file comparison in HPT. That way you can see what very little changes a tune like that really does.
