Mail Order or Dyno?
hey guys i was thinking about getting a tune, i know its best to get a dyno tune, but i dont really have the money for a dyno tune, so i was thinking about getting a mail order tune for my '94 chevy 1500 pickup, its got a 5.7 350 and no its not vortec. so wat do you think would be the best thing on a limited budget? save up and get a dyno tune or just get a mail order tune, also how much does a dyno tune cost?? i live in springhill, louisiana, and its pretty close to shreveport if anybody knows of a place there, so please let me know, thanks

Maybe it's because I'm in the business, but I am continually astounded as to how much most are willing to spend on bolt ons/ins with questionable results, yet how little most want to spend on a good tune that helps the bolt ons/ins work together and gives results and reliability. I think tuners are the world's worst mechandisers.

It's definately better to get a dyno tune. But if you don't have the money for it right now or in the near future, a mail order tune should get you close. But get a tune from a reputable company that has been around the block more than twice. It also depends what mods are done and will be done for them to tune. If you just have a few things here and there I would go mail order for right now, then get a dyno tune as soon as money allows it. If you are gonna poke and stroke, and spray with a big nasty cam then I would say wait until you can get it on a dyno!!!
