About a gajillion repeats of this question are to be found in
the PCM Tuning and External Engine sections and the short
answer is "no" if the screen is removed. But if it will ease
your mind you can go with a Z06 MAF which any tuner worth
the wage ought to be able to deal with, no prob.

I gained 5 rwhp by dropping my 85mm MAF and going to a straight tube on a 500 rwhp engine. I would expect some kind of gain with you ditching a 75mm MAF for something better flowing. The trick is to log your MAP sensor readings and see if your KPa readings drop (pulling vacuum) at WOT. With the 85mm MAF, my WOT pulls would go from 101 KPa to 97 KPa. After I ditched the MAF and added a 3.5" straight pipe, my KPa readings would only drop to 98. I gained 5 rwhp. Same A/F ratio.
