Default Radio and Windows stop working?

I have had an intermitant problem where I could be driving and the radio and power windows will just shut off and not work for a bit, then it will come back. I have been told it could be the bcm (body control Moudule). Could it be form the aftermarket alarm I had installed? a ground? or do I just need to have the BCM replaced?? Any help is very much appreciated.

It's your BCM.

My brother in laws car did the same thing, it ended up being a bad solder connection on the relay in the BCM. It was clear as day too were the solder broke (cold solder joint). I resoldered the relay and all was good.

I've had this exact problem for a while, and I've tried everything short of buying a new BCM (I'm a cheapass) and here's what I've found.

Spazzy BCM Workaround
(For those lazy bastards who just don't feel like fixing/replacing theirs)

When you notice the radio/windows are out, hold down your window switch (up or down) and press your door lock (lock/unlock it doesn't matter) If you do it right, everything should turn back on. If it doesn't fix the problem the first time you do it, simply try it a couple more times.

I've only encountered one or two times where this didn't work.

No problem, let me know if it works for you. I've only been able to test it on 2 cars with failing BCMs, and it worked flawlessly for both.
