Switched 12V in steering column?
I hear many people talk about wires in the steering column they are using for switched 12V. I was gonna do cig lighter but read that it's a constant 12V and that's no good (wiring my LC1 up today). I have what looks to be a Traction Control plug (car doesnt have TCS, weird) next to the cig lighter. Any ideas? If you refer to a wire please be explicit in your description of it, there are tons of wires. I was gonna do the siwtched 12v on the stereo but the damn thing wont come out, it feels like it's stuck on something and my hands are too big to get behind it

You are gonna need to open up your owner's manual.
In there you will find a nice little section on wiring in aftermarket electronics. The people at GM were nice enough to include 3 (!) separate connections on the interior driver's side fuse panel - one is for 12V hot all the time, one is for 12V switched, and one is for 12V accessory power (just like 12V switched, only it retains electrical power after you turn the car off until you open the door).
All you need is some wire, and a male spade connector. There's your 12V switched source, compliments of GM.

Wow. That is bad ***. Only thing is I don't have an owner's manual I will take a look at it today though and see what I can figure out. Thanks for that bit of info, massively helpful!

EDIT: just went out there and opened my eyes. Damn that is straightforward. Thanks Meents for that info.
