What stall and cam do you all recommend for an 01 WS6 Trans Am?
I have an automatic 2001 WS6 Trans Am with Hooker long tubed competition headers and flowmaster exhaust on my car. My car is a daily driver unfortunantly, but I still want to do some upgrades. I prefer a car with a mid to rough idle, but like I said I have a daily driver. I have been told that I have to have a stall and have no clue what kind or type to get. Anyone with knowledge in regards to this let me know your opinion. Thanks!

Do you have a price range? For a DD i wouldn't go higher then a 3000 stall. Ive hard people with 3200 stalls on there DDs and said it was comfortable though.....
Do you have any suspension mods? With a new cam and stall you'll be starting to put down some serious numbers. LCA relocation brackets would be neccesary

No price range really, I mean I dont want to go broke. I like cars with semi rough idles and of course feel and sound from the cam. No susp. mods.

You should buy a nice vigilante or top brand converter. That way you can get away with a bigger stall and it will drive nicely. I have a custom built ~3500 stall vigilante and I daily drive it. Anything that size and under but not too small > 2800 should be nice.
A stall converter was the best upgrade to my car yet and this is a piece you spend money on once and forget about it. Don't mess with a lesser quality piece.
It was $800 but having piece of mind and a sweet kick with minimal mileage drop off and driveablility to boot-its worth it!
For a cam you need to talk to someone like predator-z to custom spec you one or go for a tried and true 224 cam . Just make sure you get all of the accompanying pieces to again do it right the first time.
I'm no expert but this is what I've experinced personally. PM me if you have any distinct questions or search in the auto trans section or gen III internal section. Just remember on this board there are lots of fads and opinions look to tangible results and people who have proven things. Good luck with the car.

How much power do you want to make and how much daily driving to do you. What size rear gears do you have as well? As noted above, the 224 or 228 cam should work fairly well. They obviously wont set records for horsepower, but it will certainly make the car more fun. You dont have to spend a ton on a convertor, but somewhere in the 3000-3200 stall range would work.

I drive it everyday to and from work or if I am off wherever I need to go to. I live in Texas, so needless to say its quite easy to put the miles on! My car is bone stock other than the headers and flowmaster exhaust, no other mods. I hate to say it but I dont know my stock gears. I am wanting my car to be loud and fast as hell, but not be dangerous with me driving daily. I think on top of the headers and exhaust a cam would be a nice edition. But I have been told I have to have a stall to have a cam. I am not wanting my car to be at all "girly". I just have NO clue about stalls and am not sure on what brand cam would be best performance wise in my car.

Thunder Racing has a nice selection of cams. The T-rex would be way too big for your application. You would need a big *** convertor, would have to go with a bigger rear gear and your PTV clearance would be tight. I would just give them a call and see what they suggest. Texas speed would be another good company to contact. We have had great results with cams in the lower 230 duration. something like the T-rak would be much better for you. Shoot me a pm if you have any other questions

Yank 3600 stall, and custom grind cam. The ms4's sound good and make big numbers but they are more of a topend cam. With a stalled auto for street and strip, id'e go with a custom grind cam.
