Default looking into getting a TA

i am 17 years old and in june when i turn 18 im going to sell my truck and buy something with an ls1 (preferably a ws6 TA). i can get about 7500-8000 for my truck when the paint is done and i rebuild the rearend.
i know i could make the payments on a nice TA but the problem would be with insurance.
is there any other younger guys (21 and under) with ws6's? if you dont mind me asking how much is your insurance? also, what should i look for in a good car? should i avoid buying a hot rodded or nitrous car?

thanks

Hey man, Im 19 and I got a T/A. Not as WS6, I dont think that would make a difference. I have full coverage through AIS. Im paying a little over $100 a month. As for the other topic, if you can find a low mile stock car that be awesome. Maybe thats just me, but if watch out for modded or sprayed cars. Just because they could of just been beaten on. Unless they have all the parts, and maintence reciepts.

oh and ive had a ticket for my brakelight and almost got arrested for street racing, wreckless driving, careless driving, distruction of property, noise violation, disturbing the peace and some other stuff cause i was doing burnouts and donuts but i didnt end up getting cited for any of it . . . would that affect my insurance?

If they dont know about it no, I live in philly and its considered "inner city" so I get ripped 340$ a month for mine and when I had just a TA(until 20mile later it blew) it was 15$ cheaper so it is a little more pricey

you should be able to find a clean one. IF you can get a WS6 fomrula they are so much nicer

Damn I thought I had it bad with 250 a month.

Look for a stock t/a...modded cars more then likely got beat on. A t/a without the ws6 option is going to be cheaper and easier to come by.

I live in Florida as well and have a 1999 regular T/a, i only pay $135 for full coverage, was a little higher but lowjack helped out. I also have a buddy who pays 100$ flat for a 92 formula 350.

i test drove a 2001 heads/cam/intake/nitrous/exhaust ws6 when i got out of school today and it was the most fun i have ever had in my life. it was rough though for 10,500 . . . and it felt like a little too much car for a first time f body owner. so i think ill keep looking for stock ones that were owned by old guys.

make sure you get on your parents policy and you'll be fine. The only thing is do not act stupid, cause if you get a ticket it will effect your parents too and then your **** out of luck cause they will kick you off their policy and then you'll be on your own scavaging for money on your next bill.

the problem with getting on my parents policy is that when im 18 my dad is making me get my own, so i figure thats why some of yall younger guys have cheap insurance.
ill call allstate and some others sometime this week.

When I was 18 I bought a 94 Trans Am, this was in 2001, with State Farm I was paying around $115 or $120 for full coverage. Also, this was in Central Florida, east of Orlando.
